Happy Spring?

alpacas at snowshoe farm in peacham, vtThe girls are cautiously making their way outside via the newly opened path through yesterday’s snowfall. At least the sun is trying to come out and the temps are fairly mild. It sure doesn’t feel like the first day of spring, but that’s not unusual here in northern Vermont. By the end of the week, daytime temps will be in the 30’s and we’ll start to see some melting. Mud season will return before long!

In our business, the coming of spring means it’s time to make sure any young alpacas that will be going to shows are halter and lead trained. We’re lucky to have enough room to do this in our barn when outside conditions are cold, snowy and – worst case – icy.  So training is moving along and show season is coming up fast. Our first show, as usual, will be the North American Alpaca Show in Springfield, MA in early April. Wish us luck!
