We’ve had some beautiful sunny and mild days lately, but today is a not-so-gentle reminder that it’s still mid-winter in the Northeast Kingdom. The temps are falling, the wind is howling and the 1″ to 3″ that was predicted has turned into at least 8″ of new snow. Nevertheless, Snowshoe Farm Alpacas is making plans…
We’re back from a weekend that featured two alpacas shows and now we’re done for the season. That seems too easy! These combined shows are great not just for the cost savings, but for the time savings. Instead of gearing up for another show in a few weeks, we can move on the shearing season…
It’s that time again. Registration paperwork went in the mail today for the two spring alpaca shows we’ll be doing this year, the North American Alpaca Show and the North East Alpaca Expo. Both will be held on the same weekend, April 7 & 8, 2018, at Eastern States Expo in West Springfield, MA. We’re planning…
It’s so nice to get through two alpaca shows in one long weekend! Thanks to all who worked so hard to put together the Spring Alpaca Spectacular 2017! Here are the results for Snowshoe Farm’s weekend of alpaca shows: Nether Walnut Hill’s Iris 2nd – North American Alpaca Show 4th – North East Alpaca Expo…
Last weekend (Oct 21 – 23) Ron took three yearling alpacas to the Showtacular alpaca show in Syracuse. This show combines the Empire Show and the NEAOBA Show into one long weekend. We were very pleased that all three of our alpacas ribboned in both shows against some very tough competition. The best result of…
The first weekend in April was the combined North American Alpaca Show and Northeast Alpaca Expo in MA. We’re very pleased with our 2 year old white male, Snowshoe Ammonoosuc, who took second place in both shows behind a spectacular male from Cas-Cad-Nac Farm. Like his two brothers before him, Ammo has very fine and…
While many alpaca breeders in the US are on their way home from our national alpaca show, some of us chose not to risk a drive to Indiana in March. This may have been a mild winter, but the chance of running into bad weather on that trip was certainly a deterrent for us. We…
We knew we had another winner when this male was born three years ago. Snowshoe Ammonoosuc is growing up to be the spitting image of his big brothers, Snowshoe Aristides and Snowshoe Astraios. Both brothers are champions sporting beautiful fiber with lasting fineness. Now, at almost three years old, Ammonoosuc will take center stage in our…
Congratulations and thank you to Lynn Edens of Little Creek Farm, the new owner of Snowshoe Aristides! We are proud to announce that our multi-champion herdsire, Snowshoe Aristides, will join the breeding herd at Little Creek Farm in North Salem, NY. Little Creek Farm, home of Accoyo America East, features elite huayaca alpacas with fine,…
You heard it here first! We are offering our multi-champion herdsire, Snowshoe Aristides, for sale at the Showtacular Pen Sale in Syracuse, NY on Oct 23-25. We are so proud of Aristides. At seven years of age, his presence, his fiber and his temperament are still as impressive as ever. This is a male who…
