Wild weather!

0

Last night’s storm was one of the worst I’ve seen. Hours and hours of thunder, lightning, rain, wind and hail. We lost power at some point and it just came back on at 9am.

Our farm is located at a fork in the road; there are three roads to get here and only one of them is passable this morning. And the damage is considerable – the roads won’t be repaired today. If you are hoping to visit Snowshoe Farm in the near future, please contact us about the road conditions.

The road is the only thing damaged on our farm. Spinach and lettuce took a beating from the hail, but our tomatoes and such aren’t in the ground yet. The small brook in back of our house was pretty high during the night, but is no threat to our buildings.

The Peacham Fire Dept has been out checking road conditions for emergency vehicles and to see if people are OK. Neighbors have been by and offered help. Water is our only real issue when there’s no power and we have some water on hand for emergencies. But now that the power’s back, we can all stock up on water and such in preparation for possible storms again today and tonight.

This spring’s wild weather doesn’t want to quit!
