Snow day

0

It’s a snowy day here, but we don’t have “snow days” as in “taking the day off”. Snow day means a little (or a lot) more work than usual. Once the alpacas are set with hay and water, Ron will start clearing the path to the compost pile so we have someplace to put the buckets of manure and bedding we’ll clean out of the barns. And he’ll clean out the driveways so we can get the small tractor around to all the barns for chores. In the meantime, of course, the town plow will come by and plow in the ends of the driveway. Our farm is located on both sides of a town road, so we have to keep two driveways open and have to be able to cross the road. As long as the snow is just that and not sleet or rain, it’s simply matter of plow and shovel, plow and shovel. We feel bad for the areas south of us that might be in for sleet or freezing rain with this storm. That makes for much more mess and work!
