Moving alpacas

0

Today we delivered 7 alpacas to their new home here in northern Vermont. A cozy new barn awaited them at the family dairy farm which sits near the top of a hill and has a stunning view of the mountains. Since this was a new area for livestock, the paddock was still lush with grass.  What a treat!

It’s difficult not to become attached to the alpacas in our care, whether they are born as part of our breeding program or come to us as boarders.  But it’s easy to hand them over to a new home when the owner has spent a lot of time at our farm and has taken great pains to learn as much as possible about caring for her alpacas. These animals will live a great life at their new home. Thank you Jane!

Tomorrow we’ll be delivering 11 more alpacas to two farms in Vermont. It’s good that our numbers will be down for winter.  That gives all our alpacas more room at the feeders and makes chores a bit easier for us every day!
