January Thaw

0

We almost never fail to have a warm spell in January. And I don’t mean just a day with temps above freezing; I mean 50’s and rain. This week we are experiencing the thaw. Today’s temps were easily in the 50’s, the sun was shining and there was no wind.  We still have pretty good snow cover because we were spared the rain that some areas received yesterday. The alpacas took full advantage of the mild day and ventured out into the snow where we had a sled full of hay for them.

As pleasant as it was out there today, the road and driveway are turning to mud and we hope the thaw doesn’t last much longer. We like to see cold temps and a good snow cover – it’s winter in Vermont, after all!
