The forecast for tomorrow and Friday is sunny and 30’s. Perfect weather for skirting alpaca fiber in the barn. The south facing window warms the space up nicely when the weather is above freezing. I still have a fair amount of fiber to skirt and move before alpaca shearing starts in April!
Snowshoe Ammonoosuc, full brother to our multi-champion, Snowshoe Aristides, is getting the job done this summer. We have several unconfirmed pregnancies so far and have room for a few more breedings. Ammonoosuc’s introductory stud fee is $750. We are now offering a special price of $500 on drive-by breedings to Ammo. Contact us to…
Alpacas for sale and on sale! It’s a new year and time to reevaluate our sales list. We’ve slowly been going down the list and adjusting prices. Some up-and-coming young alpacas are being added and a number of older alpacas are having their prices slashed. We’re also lowering prices on certain alpacas to change up…
This weekend is our last alpaca show of the season. Ron is in Syracuse with three alpacas, including Snowshoe Aristides, our white male color champion. We’re hoping for another good showing for Ari! Back at the farm, it’s time to clean up and prepare for winter. We’ve been working on the gardens and trying to…
I hear the phoebe singing this morning. Now that’s a sure sign for us that spring is really here!
After a week of family visitors (5 nieces and nephews!), we’re home alone again. It’s fun to have the kids here, but every day’s a work day on the farm and we get behind when we have company. This week, my goal is to skirt fiber and get a few batches sent off to the…
I’ve been busy this week washing, dyeing and labeling yarn to take to the Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival next weekend. Tomorrow I pack up and I drive over on Friday morning. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and make for a busy festival. Since the weekend is National Alpaca Farm Days, the farm will be open,…
Speaking of shearing…is it too early to book our date????
Ron’s just getting started with his schedule and will be in touch. You must be loving these sunny days!
