Rosita has been under our watchful eyes for weeks now as she often has her crias early. Finally – at day 340 – she had her cria at around 2:00 this afternoon. A big boy – 19.5 lbs. He looks to be medium silver gray. He’s active and pretty steady on his feet. Nice looking boy. Rosita always gives us nice crias, so we’ll see….
It’s another beautiful day in the Kingdom! Cold nights and warm sunny days are perfect for sugaring, skiing and drying up muddy roads. The ‘pacas are happily eating hay out in the sun and we are starting to eliminate hay bedding and, hopefully, getting their fleeces cleaned up a bit before shows and shearing.
Fall is fast approaching and that means it’s almost fiber festival time! We’ve received a few new shipments of our alpaca yarn back from the mill. We do have room to accommodate your female, if desired, for an additional low daily fee. We offer you a choice of herdsires in a variety of bloodlines and colors. All, except Snowshoe…
Today I saw a cria kicking (in utero). Hannah’s Julie, one of our best females, is due in mid-May and her baby was kicking up a storm this afternoon. We always see a lot of “action’ with Julie’s crias. This is the first I’ve seen this year and reminds me to get my “cria kit”…
The first alpaca show of the season plus a family gathering for Easter made for a very busy weekend! Aristides, our champion white male took a respectable fourth in his class. It was one of the toughest classes we’ve seen with several champions in the line-up! Just making the cut was something to be proud…

His dam, as you know, is Rosita, and his sire is El Cabildo. His name will start with the breeder ID “Snowshoe”. Think on it a bit…there’s no hurry.
