Lace knitting with worsted weight yarn

0

I spend a lot of my knitting time working with fingering weight yarn. Socks are one of my favorite items to knit and I also love fingering for shawls and scarves.  Snowshoe Farm produces a lot of fingering weight yarn in 100% alpaca as well as in a number of blends.

We’ve only been making worsted weight yarn for two or three years. Personally, I feel worsted weight is too big for 100% alpaca, so our worsted is 50% alpaca/50% wool.  It’s beautiful! Mostly, I’ve been using it to knit hats and it works very well for that.

We just received a large batch of worsted weight yarn from the mill. I thought maybe it was time to go in a different direction and try some lace knitting with this yarn. I found the Gallatin Scarf; it’s a free pattern on Ravelry. It’s fun and easy and very quick to knit. I love it in our Masquerade colorway.

Later this week, I’ll start dyeing our new batch of white worsted weight yarn. Look for new color options in our online store soon.
