Alpaca Shows 2015

0

Yes, the AOA National Alpaca Show is underway this weekend, but the idea of traveling from Vermont to Nebraska in March did not tempt us even slightly.  So Snowshoe Farm will kick off the 2015 spring alpaca show season in the usual way and much closer to home at the North American Alpaca Show on April 3 & 4 in West Springfield, MA.  We’ll follow up a few weeks later at the MAPACA Jubilee on April 24 – 26 in Harrisburg, PA.

Snowshoe Ammonoosuc

This year we will have three yearling males in our pen. Snowshoe Ammonoosuc is a full brother to our multi-champion, Snowshoe Aristides. Ammo did well in the show ring last fall with a 3rd place win against some VERY stiff competition. We expect that, like Aristides, he will only get better over these next few years, holding his fine, uniform fiber as he matures. We have high hopes for this boy and hope to get him started breeding this summer.

We will also be showing a very nice fawn male, Rasalas, on behalf of his owner, Blue Moon Farm. Rasalas was sired by Snowshoe Aristides and we love his fine, crimpy fiber and overall typey and macho appearance.

Joining the boys will be FBR Zeke, a fawn yearling owned by Foggy Bottom Ranch. Zeke was sired by Tahoe, a Bueno son that we lost this year at the age of 16.

The paperwork is done, the vet inspection will be scheduled and the “show box” will be dragged in from the barn, dusted off and repacked for another show season. We have this routine down pat, at this point, and all we really need is good weather for traveling back and forth to shows.

We always look forward to seeing our many alpaca friends and meeting new ones. Please stop by our booth and visit if you attend one of these shows!
